Reflecting on "The Reluctant Prophet" - Jonah's Story and Our Own
Dear Church,
I hope you are having a great week.
On Sunday, we began a new series on the book of Jonah. We explored the theme of reluctant obedience and God's persistent love. We examined how Jonah's attempt to flee from God's call mirrors our own tendencies to run from or delay obedience to God's commands. The message emphasized that God's word continually comes to us, challenging us to respond with faithful obedience rather than resistance or indifference.
Takeaways:
- God's word often asks us to do things we don't want to do, but delayed obedience is still disobedience.
- There's always a "boat sailing in the opposite direction" when God calls us, tempting us to avoid His will.
- God may use difficult circumstances (our "storms") to grab our attention and bring us back to His purpose.
As we reflect on Jonah's story, let's consider areas in our own lives where we might be running from God's call or drifting away from His presence. Are there commands we've been delaying or avoiding? How can we cultivate a heart that's more responsive to God's voice?
May this week be one of renewed commitment to following God's will, even when it's challenging.

All are invited to join in this special lunch in celebration of Day of the Nations, inspired by National Hispanic Heritage Month. Lunch will begin at approximately 12:30 pm when English Sunday School and the Spanish worship service ends. Bring a dish to share from your native state or country and label it somehow so each dish is identified for us. Sign up to bring a dish on the link. The dish should feed 20-30 people.

NEW - One Church Kids Sunday Series: Texts From God
All kids are invited to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 & 11:30 for this new series. Texts, email, instant messaging. The way kids communicate has changed significantly from past generations. But the message that God would communicate to them remains the same: he loves them and sent his son, Jesus, to die for their sins. Each lesson in this series will focus on a text kids might receive from God if He were on their contacts list.

La forma en que los niños se comunican ha cambiado significativamente con respecto a las generaciones pasadas.
