One Church of the Nazarene

Formerly known as “Lake Houston Church” has been showing God’s love in the Atascocita/ Humble community for over 30 years.  

We are blessed to be a church filled with people from all different walks of life, different ages and different languages.  

We are One Church through God’s grace, together in communion.

To shine as a beacon of God's love and holiness, equipping and empowering every member to fully reflect Christ's character and compassion, igniting spiritual and social renewal that extends throughout our city and into the world.

Meet Our Pastor
Meet Our Pastor

Jorge Romero

Pastor Jorge Romero's journey is a testament to faith and community impact. Born in Juarez, Mexico, he moved to Midland, Texas, in 2003, where he began building his life. In 2004, he married Norma, and together they raised three children: Ximena (18), Jorge Jr. (16), and Esteban (9). His dedication to pastoral ministry began at The Gathering Church in Midland, where he served from 2009 to 2012. 

In January 2013, he stepped into the role of Lead Pastor, leading the church to significant growth and community influence through impactful ministries like an Afterschool Program, a Mother's Day Out, a monthly food pantry, a homeschool Co-op, and an annual Soccer Camp VBS. 

In March 2025, Pastor Jorge accepted a new calling to lead One Church of the Nazarene in Humble, Texas. Beyond his pastoral duties, he enjoys coffee, jogging, and cherishing moments with his family. His insights and devotionals can be found on his website, jorge-r.com.

Church of the Nazarene  

The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The doctrine that distinguishes the Church of the Nazarene and other Wesleyan denominations from most other Christian denominations is that of entire sanctification. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to a life of holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind. 

THE CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE BONDS TOGETHER INDIVIDUALS who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives, sharing in Christian fellowship, and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others.  

We are a Great Commission church.  

As a global community of faith, WE ARE COMMISSIONED TO TAKE THE GOOD NEWS OF LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST TO PEOPLE EVERYWHERE and to spread the message of scriptural holiness across the lands.

Agreed Statement of Belief  

WE BELIEVE in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 

WE BELIEVE that human beings are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually. 

WE BELIEVE that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin. 

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers. 

WE BELIEVE that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living. 

WE BELIEVE that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost. 

WE BELIEVE that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 

WE BELIEVE that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
