Finding Joy in Every Circumstance - Advent Week 3 Recap
Dear Church Family,
Last Sunday was the third Sunday of Advent. We learned that our joy doesn’t depend on our circumstances, but on the presence of God.
We looked at the account of Joseph and Mary in Matthew 1:18-21, and saw how they experienced genuine joy even in the midst of scandal, uncertainty, and hardship.
Joy is not the same as happiness or excitement—it's a deep assurance that comes from knowing that God is with us, making all things new. This doesn’t mean that we have to hide from pain or pretend everything is fine. Instead, we can face our struggles honestly while trusting that God is actively working to restore and redeem all things.
Joy is found not by ignoring what's broken in our world, but by entrusting ourselves to the God who brings life out of death.
- Joy is rooted in divine certainty, not wishful thinking. We serve a God who fulfills His promises. Our joy comes from the assurance that Emmanuel—God with us—is real and present, regardless of what we're facing.
- We can experience grief and joy simultaneously. As people of Advent, we don't ignore pain, sorrow, or injustice. Rather, we face them knowing that grief and sorrow don't have the last word. God will one day wipe away every tear from our eyes.
- Joy transforms us from the inside out. True joy isn't about covering up our mess with temporary distractions. It comes when we invite Jesus to transform our hearts, restore what's broken, and teach us to live generously and forgive freely—just as He has done for us.
As we approach Christmas, let's be a church that doesn't just celebrate the season, but lives out the reality of Christ's transforming presence. May the joy of the Lord be your strength this week, whatever circumstances you're facing.

Encontrando el gozo en cualquier circunstancia – Resumen de la 3ra Semana de Adviento
Querida familia de la iglesia:
El domingo pasado celebramos el tercer domingo de Adviento. Aprendimos que nuestro gozo no depende de nuestras circunstancias, sino de la presencia de Dios.
Analizamos el relato de José y María en Mateo 1:18-21 y vimos cómo ellos experimentaron un gozo auténtico incluso en medio del escándalo, la incertidumbre y la dificultad.
El gozo no es lo mismo que la felicidad o la emoción; es una seguridad profunda que proviene de saber que Dios está con nosotros, haciendo nuevas todas las cosas. Esto no significa que debamos escondernos del dolor o fingir que todo está bien. Al contrario, podemos enfrentar nuestras luchas con honestidad, confiando en que Dios está trabajando activamente para restaurar y redimir todas las cosas.
El gozo no se encuentra ignorando lo que está roto en nuestro mundo, sino encomendándonos al Dios que trae vida de la muerte.
- El gozo está arraigado en la certeza divina, no en ilusiones. Servimos a un Dios que cumple Sus promesas. Nuestro gozo proviene de la seguridad de que Emanuel —Dios con nosotros— es real y está presente, sin importar lo que estemos enfrentando.
- Podemos experimentar dolor y gozo simultáneamente. Como pueblo del Adviento, no ignoramos el dolor, la tristeza o la injusticia. Más bien, los enfrentamos sabiendo que el duelo y el pesar no tienen la última palabra. Un día, Dios enjugará cada lágrima de nuestros ojos.
- El gozo nos transforma desde adentro hacia afuera. El verdadero gozo no se trata de cubrir nuestro desorden con distracciones temporales. Llega cuando invitamos a Jesús a transformar nuestro corazón, restaurar lo que está roto y enseñarnos a vivir generosamente y a perdonar libremente, tal como Él lo ha hecho con nosotros.
Al acercarnos a la Navidad, seamos una iglesia que no solo celebre la temporada, sino que viva la realidad de la presencia transformadora de Cristo. Que el gozo del Señor sea su fortaleza esta semana, cualesquiera que sean las circunstancias que estén enfrentando.

ANGEL TREE PROJECT
Deadline: Sunday | December 21
Members of our congregation have generous hearts. All of the angels from the Angel Tree have been taken; but if there is anyone who did not get a chance to get an angel and still wants to help, you can bring a grocery gift card, in any amount, to the church by December 21. These gift cards will go to the Angel Tree families.
Those of you who did take an angel from the tree, please bring your gift by Sunday with the angel’s tag attached. Don’t miss out on being able to bless others this Christmas season.

The Light Has Come: La Luz Ha Venido| Christmas Eve Service (Bilingual)
Wednesday | December 24 | 6:00-7:00 pm | Worship Center
Join us this Christmas Eve for a special Bilingual Candlelight Service (English & Spanish) where we celebrate the greatest gift of all: the birth of Jesus Christ.
Experience the warmth of carols, the hope of Scripture readings, and the sacred tradition of sharing the light from the Christ candle as we sing "Silent Night" together.
We will share in Holy Communion and reflect on the true meaning of the season—not only remembering the light that entered the world in a manger but also embracing the love and hope we are called to carry into the world today.
All are welcome to this evening of hope, peace, joy, and love.

Experimenta la calidez de los villancicos, la esperanza de las lecturas bíblicas y la sagrada tradición de compartir la luzde la vela de Cristo mientras cantamos juntos "Noche de Paz".
Participaremos de la Santa Cena y reflexionaremos sobre el verdadero significado de la temporada: no solo recordar la luz que entró al mundo en un pesebre, sino también adoptar el amor y la esperanza que estamos llamados a llevar al mundo hoy.

Containers are provided in the hallway just inside our main entrance for non-perishable food items to be given to HAAM (Humble Area Assistance Ministries) and Family Promise.
Items may include mac & cheese, peanut butter, canned protein (tuna/chicken), cereal, or other non-perishables.
